Nepal Telecom has introduced a groundbreaking technological advancement to improve customer service, launching a robot named 'Maina' capable of verbally answering customer queries. The service was officially inaugurated at Nepal Telecom's Sundhara office and aims to enhance customer support efficiency.

Developed with Student Innovation

The AI-powered robot, Maina, was created by engineering students with support and funding from Nepal Telecom. Currently, the service is in a trial phase, but company sources indicate plans to expand to all branch offices if the results prove effective.

Addressing High Customer Volume

Dinesh Chandra Panthi, head of the Sundhara office, expressed the importance of this new technology in handling daily customer traffic. “Our office deals with around 200 to 300 customers each day, and due to limited manpower, delivering quick service has been challenging. We are optimistic that Maina will ease the workload and make customer interactions smoother,” Panthi explained.

Answering 600+ FAQs

Maina is capable of responding to approximately 600 frequently asked questions (FAQs) concerning Nepal Telecom’s services. This includes answering queries about account information, service plans, and other telecom-related inquiries, thereby enhancing customer experience and reducing wait times.

Future Enhancements Planned
Nepal Telecom has plans to further improve the robot’s capabilities by integrating advanced features. Maina will eventually guide customers on branch locations for specific services and deliver information in both Nepali and English to cater to a wider audience, including international visitors.

The deployment of Maina reflects Nepal Telecom's commitment to modernizing customer service through AI-driven technology. This initiative is expected to set a benchmark in the telecom sector, offering faster and more efficient support to users.
